Customer is a leading U.S.-based manufacturer and distributor of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions. With over 25 years of experience in the business, they are recognized as one of the leading producers of HVAC accessories in the Pacific Northwest. They serve both residential and commercial markets, maintaining a strong focus on quality, innovation, and customer service. Their nationwide reach includes distribution to more than 2000 partners, including a wide network of wholesalers and contractors across the U.S. and Canada.
The customer was facing growing challenges with outdated legacy systems that were impacting day-to-day operations and slowing business growth. These systems became increasingly difficult to maintain and led to disconnected data silos, limiting access to real-time information. Inventory and warehouse management processes were largely manual, time-consuming, and prone to errors. This resulted in delays and decreased customer satisfaction. The customer's infrastructure also lacked a centralized system to manage products and track sales orders efficiently. To support their continued growth, the customer needed a modern, integrated solution to streamline operations and improve overall visibility and control.
To address the challenges posed by the legacy systems, VNB team kicked off with a comprehensive assessment of the customer's existing technology landscape. Through close collaboration with key stakeholders, the team identified core operational pain points and crafted a tailored modernization strategy using Microsoft Power Apps. This offered a flexible and scalable foundation to streamline their business operations. A detailed migration plan was created to guide the transition from legacy systems with minimal disruption to daily workflows. The solution centered on developing a user-friendly, scalable application to improve the customer's inventory and warehouse management processes while handling the continuous operations for the items under the inventory check in process. We integrated Power Apps with Microsoft SQL Server to ensure secure, centralized data storage and eliminate the issues caused by fragmented systems. Leveraging the SQL data connector within Power Apps, the solution enabled seamless data flow and communication between systems, fully resolving prior inefficiencies related to data silos. The newly implemented Power Apps-based application introduced several key features, including the ability to generate barcodes after shipping the products to the warehouse, highlighting orders by shipment dates and order numbers, segregating items by bulk order categories, and providing a unified interface to view all the product categories. Additionally, manual processes, such as managing damaged items in the warehouse and updating order statuses, were automated to reduce errors and save time. With real-time visibility into inventory levels, streamlined warehouse operations, and significantly improved order processing times, the Power Apps solution delivered immediate operational improvements. Further, the scalable architecture of the solution positioned the customer to support future growth, adopt new technologies, and maintain a strong competitive edge in the market.
