VNB helped a renowned DOD contractor to build a modern digital solution tailored to automate and enable companies/vendors to follow guidelines as per the US Department of Defense’s Defense Contract Management Agency’s Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) guidebook and enable reviews in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
The customer is a prominent Department of Defense (DOD) contractor with a proven track record of streamlining complex procurement documentation for a diverse range of federal agencies and organizations. They are a trusted partner for businesses which manufacture defense systems like uncrewed aircraft systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned ground vehicles etc.,
The customer experienced difficulties in generating auto-generated PDFs using Power Automate. Specifically, challenges arose in embedding the company logo accurately in the header, calculating and displaying page numbers correctly, and maintaining precise document layout without extraneous blank pages. Moreover, certain documents were not populated with the correct data, necessitating accurate data capture and proper file storage in the designated folder location. The customer also expected the VNB engineering team to review their solution, provide guidance on best practices, application life cycle management (ALM) and governance. Along with this, the customer also wanted VNB to scale the solution and make it deployable on different cloud tenants for their respective end customers.
VNB Consulting, a Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider and Microsoft Gold Partner specializing in Power Platform applications and automation, developed a comprehensive solution to address the customer's challenges. The solution involved creating a Power Automate flow to generate PDFs triggered by the application. To optimize efficiency, VNB utilized the Microsoft Word connector for PDF generation. The PDFs were stored in their corresponding folders. Furthermore, VNB identified improvement areas and enhanced the overall solution by making use of best practices and patterns. VNB also enabled DevOps based deployment strategy for ALM, provided guidance on overall scaling of the solution and made it end-customer/user agnostic. The team helped the customer create technical documentation and role-based user guides for the customer. The team also helped in deploying the solution at one of the end-customer's GovCloud tenancy, thereby putting all the identified ALM strategies into practice and proving effectiveness of governance and control.
