VNB Consulting helped a leading residential and senior living provider in transforming its complex enterprise integration landscape into a scalable, cloud‑native architecture powered by Microsoft technologies, enabling a future-ready foundation for growth, greater agility, resilience, and long‑term operational efficiency.
The customer is a residential and senior living provider serving multiple regions across the U.S. Its portfolio includes affordable housing and senior care communities for diverse resident populations in Ohio, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and West Virginia. The organization provides end-to-end real estate and community operations support, including housing planning and delivery, on-site community management, and long-term asset performance management to drive operational excellence and sustainable growth.
The customer relied on multiple third-party applications to support core business processes, including human capital management, recruitment, employee engagement, financial and payroll analytics, HR case management, and property operations.
Over time, this integration landscape - spanning platforms such as Dayforce, Jobvite, AwardCo, Backstitch, HRAcuity, and Yardi - evolved into a complex network of custom-built integrations connecting disparate systems. These integrations were implemented using custom C#/.NET solutions, hosted on a centralized Azure virtual machine with SQL Server, and executed through scheduled tasks and webhooks.
While functional, this architecture introduced growing challenges such as:
VNB kicked off the engagement with a comprehensive discovery and analysis of the existing integration landscape, gaining a deep understanding of system dependencies, data flows, and operational challenges. The team reviewed all major integration interfaces, particularly those centered around Dayforce and Yardi, and assessed architecture, data flows, execution models, and operational readiness.
Following the assessment, VNB recommended a scalable, cloud-native integration strategy aligned with Microsoft best practices, focused on improving flexibility, readability, and long-term maintainability. The recommended approach included transitioning from the VM-centric model to modern integration platforms within the Microsoft ecosystem:
VNB also designed future‑state reference architectures to standardize integration patterns and enable:
To address complex, high-risk scenarios, a targeted proof of concept was proposed to validate modernization approaches for critical workloads, ensuring feasibility and minimizing risk prior to full-scale implementation.
