The customer is a global healthcare technology provider, supporting over 15,000 hospitals and senior living communities worldwide. Their connected ecosystem powers critical clinical and operational workflows, helping care teams deliver safer, and more efficient care. In this environment, system reliability and visibility are crucial to maintaining uninterrupted patient support.
The customer had a working BizTalk Server environment, but visibility into its operations was limited. Key areas like receive/send port status, host instance availability, adapter-specific performance, event logs, and suspended messages weren't being monitored effectively. As a result, the team was spending too much time manually tracking down issues and fixing them. They needed a comprehensive BizTalk Server monitoring and alerting solution, one that could also automate responses to recurring failures, such as disabling problematic receive locations or send ports when suspended instances were detected.
The VNB team kicked off the project with a detailed review of the customer's BizTalk Server applications to understand message flows, integration patterns, and operational dependencies. Based on this analysis, we introduced BizTalk360 as a centralized BizTalk Server monitoring and management tool, tailored to their environment. We configured key monitoring features, including Host Instance Monitoring, Receive/Send Port Monitoring, Adapter Monitoring, Event Log Monitoring, and Suspended Instance Tracking. A range of proactive alerts was also set up for the customer's BizTalk Server team, covering artifact-specific conditions, threshold-based triggers, and adapter-level events. This enabled faster visibility into issues and helped reduce response times. To address the need for automated recovery, we implemented a custom solution that combined BizTalk360's Suspended Instance Monitoring with targeted SQL queries and automated task execution. This allowed the system to automatically disable failing ports when suspended instances were detected, cutting down manual effort and improving uptime.
