Customer is a full-service security firm that provides digital intelligence to proactively predict and prevent security threats using various types such as video surveillance monitoring integration, remote guarding, cyber intelligence, security system integration, security consulting, executive protection, and canine services.

Customer Situation

Customer had an elaborate and complicated DW solution using various AWS services. The reports that were custom developed using these services were error prone due to the complexity and changing environment. It was also very difficult for them to keep finding resources to fix the issues, hence they ended up going back to weekly manual reporting. The cost prohibitive error prone solution forced customer to rethink platform and reporting needs. The customer reached out to our team to help them move to a more flexible reporting architecture using Microsoft Power BI.

Our Solution Offering

After a few initial discovery sessions and analysis, Customer and our team decided together it was necessary to reverse engineer existing reporting platform including reports and data sources as subject matter experts were not available to provide insights into data and process flow. Our team did detailed analysis of code base of all aspects of the existing AWS services framework. We proposed a new solution with Power BI as reporting tool along with SQL server and SharePoint as data sources. Our team also provided industry standard best practices that govern key disciplines of design and development of Power BI reports to help client in future implementations.
