Legacy Dynamics CRM Migration

  • The customer had several legacy CRM systems running on Microsoft Dynamics 365 On-Premises.
  • Existing infrastructure relied on SQL Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2, both nearing end-of-support status.
  • CRM environments were siloed and highly complex, featuring numerous custom applications and tightly integrated legacy systems that were challenging to maintain and scale.
  • The customer aimed to reorganize CRM architecture around three distinct product categories to improve data segmentation and system alignment across regions.
  • These issues highlighted the urgent need for a modern, cloud-based CRM solution to eliminate technical debt, boost agility, and support ongoing global expansion.

    Dynamics CRM to Dynamics 365 Online Migration

  • Discovery – VNB launched the project with a comprehensive discovery phase, thoroughly assessing the existing CRM environments, customizations, and integration points across all regions to kick start a phased migration strategy and robust technical design.
  • Infrastructure Setup – Multiple cloud environments were provisioned in different regions to ensure scalability, security, and high availability for the customer’s business applications and data.
  • Customizations – Custom business application elements—including canvas apps, web resources, workflows, cloud business rules, and plugins—were rebuilt in Dynamics 365 Online, carefully migrating and adapting all critical customizations from the legacy system.
  • Integrations – Legacy web components and BizTalk-based integrations were modernized using Canvas Apps, Power Automate, and Azure Logic Apps, seamlessly connecting Dynamics 365 Online with SAP ERP and other platforms.
  • Business Processes – Business workflows and rules were recreated in the new system, leveraging cloud-based tools to preserve and enhance operational processes from the legacy platform.
  • Data Migrations – VNB migrated nearly 4TB of customer records, transactions, and attachments to the cloud, ensuring zero data loss and careful preservation of metadata and audit fields. Advanced migration toolkits and rigorous validation steps guaranteed data integrity throughout the process.
